About this meditation
You are becoming someone who can care deeply about their work and still let it rest when the day is done.
Full transcript
For the next ten minutes, nothing is required of you. We are practicing how to step away from work you sent, without standing watch over it tonight.
Settle into the places your body meets the chair, floor, or bed.
Find the heaviest point of contact beneath you.
Stay there through one full out breath.
See if the pressure stays the same, or shifts.
Thoughts will come, because that is what minds do.
You are not trying to stop them.
Notice when attention drifts, then come back.
That noticing is the move, not a mistake.
Now rest attention on the breath already arriving.
Feel the next few breaths, without changing anything.
Thoughts may keep arriving here. That is normal.
Each time you notice and return, you are doing the repetition.
Come back to the breath, and feel the weight beneath you.
Bring attention to the exact place one hand meets its surface.
Look for the first tiny sign that hand wants to act.
Tightening, lifting, reaching, or arranging. Wait one breath without moving it.
Bring up the plain moment you sent the work, and find the last action that actually happened there.
Check carefully for one physical action still available tonight. Do not invent one.
The urge to monitor can feel like duty. First check whether there is an action here.
Feel your hands on their surfaces again.
Wait for the next urge to check, revise, explain, or review.
Catch its first form, an image, a sentence, a pull, or tightness in the chest.
Before following it, find three places your body is supported right here.
Choose one nearby thing that is not part of that work.
A cup, a lamp, a blanket, a doorway, or where you will wash up.
Find the smallest real action it asks of you now, and do only that.
Care is still here. You can feel it, and place attention on what is actually in hand.
Come back to the breath, exactly as it is.
Feel the body, and gently move your fingers and toes.
Hear the sounds already in the room. Notice what you saw about your mind.
When the urge appears, step away from the screen and begin washing up. Let the mind be as it is tonight.
